I came to Photozo with a new Nikon D50 and no idea of what to do with it, except shoot on automatic.  I heard about Robin's classes from a friend who had taken them, so I and signed up.  All I can say is, WOW.  I learned so much about my camera and about composition and exposure.  The format of the classes was fun and informative.  There was plenty of time to do the assignments.  The critique was good.  And the best thing was, I really learned how to use my camera as a creative tool to see the world around me as I envision it.

have taken both the beginners and the advanced class offered on Photozo.com.  Prior to taking the classes I could only shoot a black square in manual mode, worse yet, I had no idea why. Since the classes I now only shoot is manual mode and the photos are coming out very nice. I would recommend it to anyone buying a SLR camera for the first time.

I was lucky enough to be in the very first class that Robin undertook for Photozo. September 2005
The day before the class started my husband gave me a Canon S2 IS.  This was my first digital camera other than a point and shoot.   I had no idea how to use the settings. Ugh!

If it weren't for the massive amount I learnt with much help from Robin, I would probably still be using AUTO
I have just progressed to a Canon 400D txi  and a collection of lens.

Tough going again for the old lady, lol  I am about to enrol in the advanced classes with Robin as I am sure this is what I now need to master this new outfit.
Many thanks Robin and Photozo for these great opportunities.

For anyone with a new digital camera, the Photozo basic class is an singular learning experience. One can get only so much from reading the manual that comes with the camera. Almost immediately the student will be challenged to take indoor and/or reduced lighting shots with NO FLASH. This is a great way to learn how to use the new powerful ISO settings in combination with shutter speed and aperture settings. And....a big plus: every assignment will be critiqued by our instructor. This class is fantastic!

I just could not figure out the fundamentals of manual settings on cameras.  I'd looked at a number of photography books and online courses, but they seemed way over my head and most were quite expensive.  Robin's Basic Photography class blew me away.  By the end of the first lesson I was already leaps and bounds ahead of the months I'd wasted trying to figure things out.  Not only did she make learning the essentials of how to take pictures in manual mode - she challenged us to improve our skills and teach us new photography techniques with each lesson, and in plain language.  Friends and family comment constantly how much my shots have improved from lesson 1 to 8.  I can't wait to take the next course.

Before taking this basic class the only thing I could do is to take my pictures in the Auto mode. Robin made me see things more creatively and I have a good basic knowledge on how to use my camera. It's a lot of fun to be able to take pictures that can tell a story, not just a snapshots:-)

I did Robin's basic class about 2 years back. I have actually been taking photographs on and off for about 35 years, even having done weddings, parties anything for a while back in the late 80's

Along came a family and the pressures of my real job and photography took a back seat for about 15 years before I got the bug again.
In the time that I had been away a thing called digital cameras had become a reality and an option and I used the basic class as a way to address the changes and get the ideas flowing again. Proved a bonus to me and I am onwards and upwards, regularly undertaking paid work, having photos published in many articles and newspapers and providing a service to the community that people are prepared to pay for.

Robins class is worth undertaking at many levels and I would recommend it to newbies or oldies wanting a quick refresher.
