A couple of shots of the Portland MAX light rail. Inspired by the January "dust off that lens" project, I went for a walk downtown with only my 50mm f/1.8, a lens I like but rarely use.
Handheld at 1/8 sec (I was leaning on a wall):

Phil No. 2 is terrific. The b&w is well done. Really looks like film black and white. The first one I don't understand. Sorry.

Thanks, guys. Skippy, the first shot is of a motion-blurred train passing a ticket vending machine. Guess it worked better in my mind than onscreen :-) .
FYI, the 2nd photo was processed using the free Virtual Photographer plug-in from Optik Verve Labs. Works great in PS Elements and has some spiffy B&W and monotone conversions.

Nice work Phil. I'm digging that second shot.

Phil the speeding train effect is lost because of sharp reflections in the window, I think you were shooting thru. Someone here, I think it was Fee, not to long ago told about those filters, and I have them. They are really unique. They did a nice job on the second one.

Nice! I like both of them, especially all the parallel lines from the opened doors!

Nicely done, Phil. I quite like the first shot. The contrast of the blurred against the sharp is pleasing to me.

Skippy, if my budget ever loosens up enough for me to treat myself to some new gear, a circular polarizer is high on my list.
Tyler and Brad, thank you for the comments.
