Hey all,
I'd like some advice on what lighting equipment would be best to use for night-time automotive shooting. I havn't tried anything yet...but have searched and can't find what the pros typically use to get that nice even lighting on the cars for low-light or night time shooting. I currently have a 480EX external flash and also use a 2-light alien bees set-up for portraits. I also have a portable battery for location shoots... would the portrait lights work okay with a softbox or umbrella? Or is there a better piece of equipment that's not so bulky and time-consuming for set-up?
Thanks!

I'd forget the high tech options and go for ambient light. Street lights are awesome (and appropriate). Use a low ISO, tripod and a cable release. You could also shoot at dusk for some great effects without the streetlight.
This shot was lit by a nearby street light.

I've done quite a bit of night photography using available light and adjusting shutter speed but I'd like to be able to create light in spots where I need it.
If anybody knows what types of flashes are generally used i'd appreciate it

I am always told a low ISO and tripod will do wonders but i havent had the chance to try it out.

This guy shoots for celebrity rides magazine among others, His blog often shows videos of his shoots and other pictures of his set up. He uses lights for everything he does. HE graduated from RIT, only reason I know him is he went to school with my brother.

Man, he's great. I love how he controls the lights (lights still controls me). Its great to see such kind of fine work. Could be great to have him in the forum sharing his advises too :)
