I have heard that most people just leave their lens on their camera..with my case that I have that is not an option, i Just make sure all covers are on..lens cover, camera cover and so on.I just make sure both covers are on the else and the camera...is this a safe practice to protect my investment?

It wouldn't hurt, but preferably I would keep the lens I used most on the camera in order to avoid having to put it on in a hurry and to avoid the wear and tear on the connection.

Old Chinese saying "A drop of water can destroy a mountain". Friction can be a b*tch (sometimes).

If the case you have is not big enough, get out to garage sales and look for a used diaper bag. They big room and many have a changing bad for baby that will act as a good cushion for the camera and lens. Plus they have lots of compartments etc.

He can even wrap the camera in some good old but clean T-shirts (the soft cotton kind, like men's white undershirts) and put them in a backpack. Another important thing would be to have silica gel packets, plenty of them, to ward off humid conditions.
