Hi guys,

Wondered if you can help me. I’m in the market for a new DSLR + lens, and am stuck between a D60, D90 and D300.

Here’s the thing: I will only be using this camera in one situation: interior photography (with no people) to go on a website advertising boutique properties. I don’t wish to use additional equipment (bar perhaps a diffuser flash).

Can anyone recommend whether it is worth the extra cost of going for a D90 / D300? Do these contain elements that will provide considerably better quality interior photos than the cheaper models? I’m particularly attracted to the idea of LIVE-VIEW and the 3” LCD screens on these models.

Furthermore, will the ‘standard’ lens do or would you recommend a more appropriate (wide-angle?) lens I should use.

Apologies for sounding so incompetent!

Alex

Alex, you have a few choices on shooting interior shots. Depending on how professional you want to be, my first choice would be to get a Canon Full Sensor Camera with one of their great Shift Tilt lenses that are perfect for wide angle architectual shots that will give your the same ability as a view camera image.

Given your choices of Nikon cameras, all having a 1.5 size sensor, you are going to need a good quality wide angle lens in the 10 to 18 max focal length. Then you will have to rely on doing your perspective controls with Photoshop to get your vertical lines vertical. This method certainly works very well, but if you are going to be making large prints, is not as good as having the Canon Shift/Tilt lenses.

From what little I know about the different Nikons you mention, I would go for the D90 or the D300, as they are both better than the D60
