Don't usually post in the sports forum, but this is what I did last night. The lighting was horrendous. I really wish I could use the flash. c/c welcome.

Looks like Deirdre is on her way to becoming a pro MMA photographer. what Aperture are you working with in these? Did you consider renting a faster lens for one of your cagematch outings?

Is this shot through the fence? I know lighting has to be "fun", but I think you did a great job.

Maybe they were in a time out for a commercial break or that guy just died.:) I looked too and was very impressed.

Well done. I tried to shoot at a kick boxing event last weekend and soon realized that I do not have the proper lens. Good Job!

Wow - I go away for a week and look what happens.

Actually, the promoters did rent me a lens. it was really fast. I wouldn't have been able to get half those shots without it and my monopod. It was a Nikon f/2.8 70-200 VR - gorgeous piece of equipment, but completely wasted on my D80 (I do need a new camera now... sad... but I had a taste of the good stuff with that lens, and have seen what I can do with a better body)

Yes, it was shot through the fence. The best ones were when they held still, obviously.

I have "resigned" from being their photographer, if one can resign from something a family member is running. I found out that they asked me to do it because htey didn't want to pay the pro MMA photog the piddly $400 bucks he charges to show up. They'd originally told me he was charging them "a ridiculous amount of money" and then I found out what that was. I told them they needed to pony up that money and get the guy with the right equipment. duh!

Thanks for the comments/compliments!
