hey all...is there such a device that will read a compact flash card, and send the photos without interface to my pocket hard drive? I am heading to thailand with my digital rebel. I know i will be shooting tons, and i do not want to a) bring the laptop b) have to hunt for a photo shop that can burn to cds when both my 1gig cards are full.

Any thoughts on my options? I have an 80gb firewire/usb2 pocketdrive. Normally it gets power from the laptop, but it can take an extrenal plug. Could i hook up my rebel to the drive and tell the camera to just upload?

am i dreamming?
thanks

mlecho here's something I've had my eye on, and so far it's the only one I've been able to actually find in the store.

Hi mlecho, welcome to the zo. I just returned from a 4 week vacation in Italy and I bought a 40 gig storage device prior to leaving and I loved it. Worked like a charm and it was about the size of a palm pilot. There is another thread that talks about storage devices. Here is the link it might help you out

This is the one that I have:

I hope this helps

Deja vu. lol

Sorry, I don't know the answer on this forum any more than I do on the other forum you joined to ask the question.

I thought I was going bonkers for a bit there! lol

The RCA Lyra™ 20GB Audio/Video Jukebox (RD2780) looks real good great reviews..... I was just wondering though.....does anyone in the forum own one.....and how is the download function from a cf card work???? in one review one person sez it cannot copy a full cf card of photos unattended?? what does that mean, that you have to upload 1 picture at a time???? that dont sound right????? if all goes well I will be getting one next week for my Birthday( so I was told...LOL :-D )

I have an Apple iPod that I can use to upload photos via a Belkin adapter. I just make sure I always have enought empty iPod disk space to allow me to download what I need. It's not as fast as I would like but it does work fine.
