I found these for sale on Ebay and thought they'd make a nice photography prop. I used a slate background, they're both cold materials and a steel grey colour but the slate has a lovely rough texture and the silverware is smooth. I liked how they can be similar but different at the same time.

Leonie, this is awesome! You're eye for still life is really coming to its own. I'm so happy with how far you've come in your photographic abilities!

I would like to echo Amber's assessment of your work. I remember your first photos you posted here and how much you have improved. You have a great eye for a photograph and your still life work is above what we normally see here. Congratulations.

You have particularly learned proper lighting techniques, which is hard to do well. I think most people will be scared to compete with you on the Chocolate Challenge.

Thanks Landis and John. I do feel that I have learnt a lot over the last three years that I've been here (and I know I still have a long way to go, I don't think the learning will ever end and I hope it doesn't). I have to say that most of that learning has come from here by listening to all of the advice I've been given and reading and absorbing other peoples comments and posts not necessarily about my own photos but listening to what others say about other people's work too. I've also spent time reading books but really the best help has come from the zo, so thank-you to everyone here for making it such a special place :)

This one is really nice Leonie. There is a restaurant, we go to sometimes. Hanging on their walls are things similar to your set up. It would go on their walls nicely. If you didn't want the real thing, this picture would make a great replacement.

Thanks sounds like an interesting restaurant Skippy. I'd love to go there, although I'd probably want to photograph their walls!

very nice shot Leonie. The one thing I notice is light reflection in left spoon. I think it's better that shot don't show you gears like lights or flash in this shot. Am I wrong about that reflection so I see?

Ali, I am really pleased to know that you too are finding the Zo to be a good learning resource. It is certainly a good place to pick up all sorts of tips and advice.
