Third bathroom, again this one had some nice finishing touches by the same customer as bathroom 2. The door was removed to enable a better view. In the first photo below I'm standing in the doorway, the door would usually open into the bathroom onto the bath on the right-hand side. C&C welcome.

A beautiful job throughout, Leonie! That curved glass shower is a reflections challenge! Excellent work. One thing I'd change, though, is I'd correct the perspective distortion. I think you'll find that'll make them absolutely perfect.

Thanks for the feedback Bruce. I corrected the distortion but I think this bathrooms I've forgotten to do so, I can see obvious distortion on #1 and #3 so I'll go and correct that. Thanks :)

Leonie these are great, and I want that bath tub.
Customer? Was this a paid shoot?

Thanks Matthew :) I love that bathtub too, unfortunately it's a few cm's too big for our bathroom otherwise it would be my choice. I love how it has no taps, the water fills in through the overflow (the round chrome thing you can see just peeking over the front rim of the bath). The mixer valves are mounted on the wall with all the pipework hidden, the shower attachment thing is on the right hand side of the bath. Very sleek.

The customer is that of my husband's business. I didn't get paid for the shoot but the photos will be used for marketing which will result in business so I guess I get paid indirectly. It's good experience for me with not too much pressure whilst I'm learning.

These are all wonderful. You did a really nice job. I can't imagine shooting a bathroom, the challenges are tremendous. You would be a realtor's dream:) Most in-home shots I see on real estate pages are really terrible!

I corrected the distortion ...

Great job on that. Now they're beautiful! Your husband would have to pay a LOT of money to a local pro to get anything this good. I hope he appreciates how difficult it is and what a good job you've done.

Thanks :) I find that each time I get to photograph a bathroom I learn something new and make an improvement on the previous session.

Thanks Bruce :) My husband's had first hand experience of how difficult it is to photograph these rooms (with our point and shoot), the cramped working space is the most difficult thing to overcome. He's delighted with the results and very proud of my work.

I have considered purchasing a wider lens (16-35mm) as I'd like to get it for landscapes too. But what affect will that have in bathrooms, will I really get any more into the photo or will the distortion just be too great to make it worthwhile?

I love that lens on my full-sensor camera! Yes, it gives more perspective distortion, but that's easily correctable, just as with 24mm. Since you're using smaller apertures, you could save a lot of money by getting the equally good 17-40mm f/4L.

You'll see a lot of photos taken with the 16-35mm in my gallery.

Borrow/rent one, and you'll fall in love with it!

I've found that the distortion of wide lenses makes it more difficult to merge images into semi-panos, but with a wide enough lens that's not usually needed.

I've looked at the 17-40mm but I've heard so many good things about the 16-35mm, particularly about it's sharpness which is very important to me. I'm still undecided about which one of the two to get but I really like what I hear about the 16-35 lens. My piggy bank is going to have to get a lot fatter before I can splash out on either.
