Now, get out and get shooting this week.
OH, this does not count as my picture for the week. lol

JimL
08-09-2010, 09:16 AM
OK which one is you?

Jim

OK, Jim, from a photographic standpoint, which one is the subject of the shot? I know, I know. Rule of thirds.

JimL

:D

Where I used to work there was a supervisor who did most of the hiring who was suffering (enduring?) male pattern baldness. One day a man came in looking for a job and told the supervisor that he had previous work experience at the plant and offered, as proof, a photo taken at a line awards ceremony. He pointed out an hourly employee with long hair man and a beard receiving the group award from the plant manager as being himself.
Unfortunately for the applicant the person he pointed out as himself was in fact the very supervisor who was doing the interview taken when the supervisor was a new employee.
The applicant was not hired nor was he told his mistake. :-D

2001 you must have been a very young mother. lol

OK, OK. So this isn't me. But half of her genes are. This is my youngest daughter Elizabeth when she was a senior in HS. She is the mother of my granddaughter Kaitlyn. You know, the one I bore y'all with all the pictures of. lol

lol @ Monnie. Too funny.
Jim, your story is hilarious. What a dope that guy was. ~~Peg

Folks, this is how NOT to photograph an eagle in a zoo. Pretty sharp but 3 stops underexposed. This then is a "rescued' image in LR3. Yikes!

I love it too Steve. Nothing wrong with it in my book. ~~Peg

I've been interested in different kinds of bokeh for a while so I played around this afternoon with a glass paperweight and some Christmas lights. Should have left more room in front of the paperweight, but that's minor. Skippy, I shot this with the 28-135mm. ~~Peg

Very nice, Peg. I love glass eggs. What does this one have inside of it? I have a wonderful Kerry Glass egg that I ought to try something like this with.

I was wandering around the fairgrounds gardens before the fair opens on the 19th of this month.

Steve tremendous job on the save. Makes him look regal. Just for giggles and I know Monnie will let you do it. :-) Could you post the unedited version? Would love to see the comparison.

Sage I really like this, but you missed Christmas in July. lol do you keep your Christmas lights up all year? That egg would be a great take along to shoot it where ever you go, like Fee's leggo man.

Jim I like this. Probably those are weeds in the background, but they work well with the flowers. Two interesting textures. Do you live close to the fairgrounds?

Monnie, the egg is hollow inside; the bottom is open. I love it. Found it at a thrift store.
Skippy, I hunted up the Christmas lights after reading about different shapes of bokeh. My husband would kill me if I left the decorations up one minute longer than necessary...lol
That's a great idea about taking it along. I'll keep it in mind.
Jim, that is a lovely composition of flowers. The colors are lovely. It would look good hanging in my kitchen.
Thanks for the comments guys. ~~Peg

Peg I didn't know sometimes here they are used outside around the deck or even in the campgrounds hung from awnings. lol I have always liked Christmas lights and really hate to take them down. Kudos to you for digging them out just to test bokeh. :-)

Skippy

I think those "weeds" are being used as ornamental grass. They do grow in fields around here but most of the plants are new plantings. There were two or three crews pulling weeds, dead plants, and volunteers. They also were replacing dead plants with similar ones. Getting the front of the fairgrounds ready for the State Fair next week is a big job, especially considering the 90 degree F heat (56 days this year so far).
I live 10-15 min (Daylight Savings Time (which I think is supposed to make them pass faster  )) from the Fairgrounds by X-Way.

Steve That is a nice job on the eagle. Our zoo has a pair of real "Rescued" eagles that are permanent residents due to being shot through the wings, making them unable to fly.

Peg..Are you in league with the stores running Christmas in July? I may have to look for some props myself in the local flea markets. That paperweight has some possibilities.

Skippy, I have some cool Japanese lanterns that hang from the awning on our rv. Might shoot them sometime this winter.
lol @ Jim. I am rushing it a bit, eh? I have photographed that egg every which way but upside down. It makes a great prop. Just never have put the pics on the Zo. ~~Peg

Peg - I like the egg and bokeh of lights

Jim - That's a beautiful image of the flowers and grasses.

OK, so I don't post more than one image this week, I'll just add a link to the underexposed eagle image (http://wtlwdwgn.smugmug.com/Animals/ZooMontana-0110/Eagle-I-Original-0043/966703068_oB24J-XL.jpg).

Very nice surf action capture John. I'd like to try that too but an ocean is a wee drive from here. :) The motoring magazine EVO often thrash their test cars at a circuit on the coast in North Wales. There have been some pretty spectacular backdrops of some serious ocean waves in their photos.

Do not have a lot of time right now but I wanted to post this pic before I take my son to his Baseball tryout, he has to try and make 15 and 16 year old team. so it is a busy day. I will be back later tonight to look at everyones Pics and give my 2 cents. This is a action shot I tried to catch with the equipment I had, not really the right gear for this shot but wanted to give it an attempt anyway.

Nice one, Tom. Did he connect with the ball?

Steve - A. Bird...a great photo, any pp done ?
Peg - Very Faberge'ish...and nice bokeh.
Jim - My compliments...I love this, there is something of a surreal feel to it, as if the forefront is disconnected from the background.
John - All we have is a lake, with very mild waves...as an ex Capetownian (Cape Town, SA) I grew up by the sea...love it and miss it.
Tom - Yes...did he connect.

Pink Parasols on Sugar Beach
(AKA Umbrella's in the sand on Lake Ontario)

---> Most definitely Pink, and I shall never be swayed to the contrary...my line in the Sugar Beach Sand.

Wow Monnie, Super pic with super story. Greyhounds are just great dogs. There is a couple around the corner who work with the greyhound rescues. They have one. Greyhounds have the softest coat going.

Michael, Wonder whose eyes are off, yours or mine. They sure are heading for lilac on my screen. Still a nice desserted look and feel to it. Wonder who was sitting in that chair last and left the can. Glad you can still laugh after such a long day. :-)

Happy Birthday Peg! Hope you have a great day.

It seems like the tops of trees is recurring. Was wandering around the dooryard of the neighbors, waiting for the other half to get done gossiping. :-) Just thought the sky and this old spruce tree was nice. Mine are all dying for some reason. I think when they raised the road it harmed the root system in some way.

:help: :bounce: :D Color is in the eye of the beholder (or computer screen).....male v female....and never the twain shall meet......It shall be indelibly stamped in my mind, forever (figuratively that is) and it shall remain......Pink Parasols. Any way how can you have lavender parasols in the sand.....is lavender not what comes in a spray can to use in the loo.....are lilacs not pink flowers.....

Happy D'Bay Peg.

Skippy - Great Blue Spruce.

Monnie - Great capture,,,sparkling clear.

lol Well.......... maybe, I am inclined to agree with Monnie or she inherited her color perception from her dad or she was looking at the same monitor you were, or she has been there in daylight and already has a color memory of pink that would tend to basis her opinion:D Good try Michael.
