View Full Version : Kodak DX4530 Closeup lens

Hey, I am new to the forum, I have a question.

I have a Kodak Easyshare DX4530 with the closeup lenses (10x + 7x). If i were to purchase another set of those lenses, if I would have twice the amount of zoom? Just thought I'd ask for someones opinion/experiance before spending the money to find out it doesn't work out too well.

That's the macro lens I had as my first digital (only for the DX4900). The problem with macro filters like that is the more glass = more distortions. You'll get closer but your images won't be as clear as before. The other drawbacks to super macro are that (1) less light reaches the sensor so you have more oportunity for camera shake or motion blur, and (2) your depth of field becomes paper thin so it's difficult to find an angle at which everything is in focus. You will have more zoom, though.

That's not to say you can't get decent images, but it does take practice and the right conditions.
