Mickey's dilemma brought up an issue - Judging.

Are judges needed for all three Challenges (BkWk, Project, and Gallery?)
Can you use someone who has more time than technical knowledge to work in tandem with a more techie type? I know enough to be dangerous.

If so, I would be happy to volunteer. My camera went bust, and my sister's old Kodak DX3500 isn't going to produce challenge quality work in most cases, so time I have.

Did this as a public thread, because there may be others out here, who also may not understand the normal needs and procedures.

You are the chief judge... You decide what are the 5 finalists... Than we (the public) vote...

This is more about other challenges - unless Mickey's dilemma was an unusual circumstance. Kat

Scott...I think she's talking about the Quarterly - Challenge ... like the July one Mickey did. Mickey said she couldn't find anyone to judge them so she just let us all vote.

Kathy, as a Chief Judge you can decide wether or not to get some help judging the photo's.

Quote from the topic Chief Judge & Process : http://www.photozo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=744

When the "open period" ends, the Chief Judge may collect the finalists list from Moderators (optional) and use them as a reference to make his/her own decision on which photos to be put on the top five list.

BTW Kathy, thanks for the timetable you wrote, but you might wanna check the numbers of the challenges ... #56 57 58 followed by ... 56 57 58 56 57 58 ....

EDIT: sorry this is about the Biweekly and Project Challenges ... must have read better first time ....

Nope, there's definitely a reference to the Gallery challenge there Eric ....
and just my two cents worth - I don't believe the system when followed is at all flawed so let's not fix it!!

Hi, Cathy.

Just to add to the confusion: There weren't any changes suggested. Two topics were conjoined (and definitely in the form of question and volunteering if needed.)

I was offerig to help judge the Quarterly Gallery Challenge. Mickey had quite a lot of difficulty in finding help at the time. Besides, I thought that someone, somewhere mentioned that more than one person selected the Top Five (CHIEF judge made me think that might be true also.) That issue was the questioning-for-clarification part.

The Table mentioned was just something I had sent in a PM so Scott could check to see if I understood all the time-framing for the various Challenges.

Outside of suggesting that each of us critique another's Gallery Uploads (giving a little extra help and/or appreciation) by 1x-a-Day, or that only one person should be allowed to enter an outstanding for each Challenge (making it a whole lot easier on us Voters!), I don't believe in suggesting major changes when something is working well. The first is a community relations idea and the second is obviously tongue-in-cheek.

Suggestions for enhancements or changes aren't a bad thing, but I'm sure glad our leaders/friends don't blow in the wind! Kat
