The composition is very nice, John

A Xylaria (club-shaped) shroon....kind of scary-looking.

This is the mysterious mechanism that lurks beneath the hood of my vehicle. ~~Peg

Willard those shrooms look like they are way to old to be any good.

Sage, what in the world were you doing lurking under hood? Hope that doesn't mean you are having problems. lol

Stopped at a produce stand Mon. the pumpkins are out. Only this guy is a gourd. :-)

I was wrong about that evergreen last week. It is not a yew, it's a cedar.

John - Cool shot...I;m thinking golf course on that far side hill.
Willard - Definitely scary.
Peg - The trick is now to identify your car.....Pontiac maybe ?
Skippy - Looks a little mutated.

Who knows what lurks inside?
OK OK I can see that it is riding high so it is probably empty ...for now.

Sorry, no prize. It's a Ford Explorer. :-)

Skippy, no problem with the engine, just thought I'd do something different. ~~Peg

Skippy, love the pumpkins. That would make a great notecard. :)
Jim, looks like a nice day for chugging up the river. ~~Peg

Jim beautiful day on the river. Maybe it is headed for the grain harvest.

Michael it is a cross between a butternut and something else.

Peg I have some other shot too. There is one of a white one. Really odd.

Beautiful scene John. Exactly what is a "Hoe" in England?

Willard I guess the radiation level wasn't high enough to fog your memory card when you took those photos. :-)

Peg That engine looks well used.

Skippy That gourd looks as though someone half ate it and then put it back to finish growing.

Jim

Thats a good question Jim - I am not from the area and had always assumed (wrongly) that in was Olde English for Harbour - Plymouth has a large natural harbour.

However a bit of research suggests Hoe comes from Old Anglo-Saxon language and means "a sloping ridge, shaped like an inverted foot and heel"

I guess it suggests the shape seen from the air - though how the Anglo Saxons saw it from the air is way beyond me - catapult maybe!! :-)

Plymouth Hoe - another angle

Yep, I'm still here. Still dealing with selling the house. In the meantime, I bought a 2011 Forester today ostensibly for my daughter (:D) So here's my week's image of the Forester parked next to my SAABaru. Pentax K20D, DA* 16-50 f/2.8, 16mm, 1/160 @ f/7.1, ISO 100.

Looks like I'm bringing up the tail again this week. I actually have had good opportunity for photographing this week but the upload time just hasn't been there. First some catching up...

John- Looks like a great place to spend a weekend. All kinds of interesting things to photograph there.
Willard- Now I know I've never seen anything like that. Are they edible?
Peg- I didn't know you were a mechanic. Hope you weren't there for problems.
Jim- One of the nicer barges I've seen. What are they hauling (or will they be)?
Steve- Good cars those Subarus.
Michael- Everytime I see bright colors I start looking for photo ops. That's your fault. :)

And for myself, took this earlier in the week when I out scouting for areas I want to take fall photos. It's getting close.

Love the coloring in this one Pat. What a pretty morning. I would just take a little of the top. The darker branches up there don't add much. Still would like to walk on that path.
