Cute shot, Monnie :) . Tonight was a momentous occasion...............................for the first time in the entire time we've lived here (since 1996), we had trick-or-treaters come to door. Of course we've always had candy on-hand...just in case. :)

We used to have a lot of kids come round. They've all grown up and moved on. We only had one tonight. I miss all the little ghouls and goblins. LOL

This larch is persevering even in fall weather. The light was nice and so is the bokeh.
Don't we love kids at Halloween, Monnie. Nice capture.

Monnie that is a great outfit. Is she trying to look fierce or she doesn't want her picture taken.
We had none this year too. We have never had many. The housing projects are the place to go to score lots of booty.
Willard love the light on the larch. Nice capture.

I love the witch costume, it is so cute, she looks so fierce!!!
I really like the blue behind the larch too.

She was trying to look cute, Skippy. I think the black under her eyes makes her look fierce. I wish I had left that off. Our local Publix had TorTing from 4-7 PM. Since Elizabeth and Dusting work til 6, I volunteered to take her. You know they really had to twist my arm. lol
Williard, the light on the larch is perfect. What exactly is a larch? I'm not familiar with it.
Beautiful catch Willard. The light is perfect. ~~Peg

Larches are conifers in the genus Larix, in the family Pinaceae. Growing from 15 to 50m tall, they are native to much of the cooler temperate northern hemisphere, on lowlands in the north and high on mountains further south. Larch are among the dominant plants in the immense boreal forests of Russia and Canada.
Although a conifer, the larch is a deciduous tree and loses its leaves in the autumn.
The needles turn a marvelous yellow color in the fall when they fall. Also called a tamarack around here.
Hardly ever see a sunrise because of the woods. Now that the leaves are just about gone, I saw this out my dining room window. The world is a beautiful place sometimes. ~~Peg

Our sun came up red this morning too, but it was pale in comparison. Saw you had a mess over you later in the day though. Beautiful.

Thanks ladies. Skippy, it was a nasty wet day. And dark as pitch. That sunrise was the best thing I saw all day. ~~Peg

Mishlove, your backyard looks great, and I loved your advice on always keeping a camera with you.
Peg, I still cannot get over that sunrise picture.
Well done on having the camera with you Skippy, I like pictures taken from inside the car soometimes you can get some really reat results.
Last night I took 549 pictures during Bonfire Night celebrations in Lewes in the UK, I plan to take a look at them now, hopefully there's something good in there for our "Night pictures" challenge!

549 pictures have just become 246!!! I am still struggling with manual settings, and how to get shots of a parade in the dark where people are carrying torches of fire is still a mystery!!! Now to go back and do the editing of the 246 pictures!!!

Use aperture priority at the lowest possible f stop you have. Set your shutter speed to at least 1/60 and raise the ISO until you get a fairly decent exposure. That is a place to start. Then as you get used to doing you can make better adjustments.

Peg, beautiful sunrise. Did you have bad weather that day? You know what they say about "red sky at morning..."
Skippy, I bet Focus has a story to tell.
Michael, love those trees. Wish we could get them to grow in our climate.
I'm thinking this meet was not by chance.

The last couple weeks have been crazy but did get out this morning. This is a reflection I got from a local pond just flipped it right side up. Couldn't tell the reflection from the real thing.

Monnie, I think he does too, but at the moment, he is so tongue-tied it's not coming out right.
Jim, you are probably right. Silly things. Those babies will be born going into winter.
Pat love the colors and it must have been really still. Could have fooled me.

Monnie- Kailyn made a good witch. With all the snow last week, I worked extra hard to make sure that the trick-or-treaters could get to the door easily but didn't get even one.
Willard- Don't the larches stay green through the winter. These are the soft needled bushes?
Peg- Great color - the sky was on fire.
Skippy- I think that focus was worth every penny you paid. Certainly gets a workout. Like what you did with the Schnauzer in the bg.
Michael- Green leaves in Toronto? What's going on up there?
Jim- Squirrels can be entertaining. Think my dogs keep them away from my yard.

It seems mother nature may be a little confused.....could be because of the debt crisis in the Euro Zone.....might as well blame it on that.
Skippy, Focus looks happy to see that puppy.
Michael, you weren't smoking "pot" with those kids now, were you?
Jim, I really like the tones in this one. They look up to no good.
Pat, a lovely scene with rich vibrant colors. ~~Peg
