Why is it that for some photos I can see the EXIF info and on others I cannot?
Being able to see aperture and shutter speed is sometimes helpful when someone has accomplished a shot that I want to get.
Depends where its hosted I imagine. I usually host and resize on Tinypic and the exif info is lost.Bob

I'm only used to Photoshop, so I'll speak about keeping Exif in Photoshop. In making a jpeg, if you Save for Web, it'll remove the Exif to make the image a smaller file size. If you Save As... it'll retain your Exif, allowing it to show up in the gallery and elsewhere.

It depends on what editing software you're using. Some programs give you an option to save the exif and others don't. I'd check the options/preferences tab on the program that you're using to save your photos. And of course, if you're using photoshop or psp be sure and use the save as option as Bruce has recommended.

It could be that it has been stripped by the person who posted picture. As you can see, if not saved right it is not there to be read. Some of my pics are at Flicker and I know the exif is there you can see on the that pictures page. Yet I can't read it here. So most of the time the lack of exif, will be the method that someone used to save their picture.

In PSP, the... save as...... also preserves the exif.
If you do multiple-image HDR, the exif data is not recorded with the HDR image.
Photobucket doesn't strip exif, at least not mine.

In PSP if you go to the optimizer screen and don't have the box checked for save exif, it gets stripped out.
Your are right if it is there Photobucket doesn't strip it, but I have yet to find a tinypics picture with exif.

How can I tell or see if the exif info is attached after uploading to Photozo?? I use webshots to store on the web and then upload from there, I can see the exif info on Webshots before the upload.

First, open your photo. Next to the photo on the right side, there is a gray box. On the very bottom, look for "show exif into". If that choice isn't there, or no info shows under your photo, after clicking it, the exif isn't attached to the photo. I hope this helps.

Linda,
Are you talking about opening the photo if it is in your gallery? or can it be posted anywhere on the fourm. I've opened mine and several peoples photos in various threads and don't see the gray box.
I feel like a moron....lol

You have to go to the gallery view. Once you open your photo in your gallery, the link to view exif is on the right hand side of the window under the photographers name etc, on the bottom. I hope this helps. You're certainly NOT a moron either. Every website is set up differently and learning where things are is a challenge for everyone.

Ok, thanks Linda. I don't have a gallery set up yet, looks like my next step.

Ok, set up my gallery and uploaded from Webshots. Again in Webshots I can see the exif data, but when uploaded it's not there. Tryed uploading from my comuter, however file size must be to big. Is there a way to automaticly ajust the file size when uploading from my computer, so it will keep the exif???

Wow not that i know of. I resize mine in Paint Shop some use one of the Photoshops, and there is also GIMP and Ifran both of which are free. With some of these you can batch resize if you have quite a few to do.
And do not save for the web in most of those programs as that will also strip out the exif.
Maybe some one will come along with better info.
