I don't know any specific names, but yes, there is software to do that... for a start, there is the sort of stuff that matches images to an id database, used for recognising crime suspects, and things like that... then there is the software built into some digital cameras, that can match a scene against what it's looking at currently, so it can detect the differences between landscapes, portraits, etc... the more samples it's given, the more it can recognise, but it's still not foolproof... but I digress, I imagine your usage for this would be to have the software go through and find many of your landscapes and put them in one directory, etc?? That'd save a lot of filing time, and I for one would be interested in anything that can do it...
I did a few searches through Google... didn't find anything that way, although there are some suggestions that it'd be a good idea on various 'suggestion' sites, such as 'suppose' - a site where some entrepeneurs get their 'next' idea... there was also an internet streaming lecture on the technology used to match images, but it was long gone...
There you go - there's a project that could sell to thousands of photographers, multimedia experts, etc...
Cheers,
Stuart
