Hi there,

I am after the plans for a DIY version of this,

I have a mate that works with 1-10mm plastic and he can cut it and I can hot glue it in my workshop also what thickness should i use for opaque white plastic on the front?

Regards Darren

Those aren't as expensive as the time to build a lightweight, somewhat durable, compact, foldable light box would be. I especially like that extra diffuser in the center. As you know, I sometimes use two of these in macro work.

I have to agree. These are very inexpensive and I'd just buy one if I were you, and I did, but if you are just dying to make one then I'd say go for it! I would think you could find the materials at any large craft store. Don't forget to look in all areas of the store as the perfect 'ingredient' could be hiding in the sewing department! :)

Thanks Bruce and Mickey,

I have a few designs that are DIY I thought I would make them all and see which I like the best for effect then maybe buy the foldable one, also thought of making some smaller for the macro twin-lites I have. I don't care if they are foldable as I can store them in the car (as most of my knick knacks are :-))

Thanks for posting that, Justin. I think that you'd have to elevate the flash on a bracket anytime you're enlarging the light source so that it's closer to the lens, or you'd get red eye. For when you don't need to fold it to put it away, that's among the solutions which would work. At least it's a larger light source (softer shadows) than the LumiQuest mini softbox shown at the top of this thread (which I own and use only for macro).

Justin, I made the diffuser you posted and love it, cost me 12-13 bucks and 1/2 hour of time :-)
