There has always been a strong push by professional photographers against the micro stock industry. Modern Postcard, and large printing concern with a large base of pro photographers, entered into a partnership with iStockPhoto. After receiving order cancellations, e-mails, and phone calls from pro photographers upset with the partnership within hours of the announcement, Modern Postcard cut ties with iStockPhoto and issued a press release.

I think it shows quite clearly the position pro photographers feel about the micro stock industry. I find it amazing that they rallied so strong and hard against the Modern Postcard/iStockPhoto agreement that it was absolved within 2 days of being announced.

We are only powerless if we don't speak up!

So...I think that Modern Postcard couldn't have offended their base clientele any deeper than saying "skip the expensive photo shoot". The only move they could make was to severe their relationship...it was smart on their part to do it quickly!! Word of mouth does work!!
