I just noticed on eBay 2 - BP511 replacement batteries selling for $15 US.
Non-Canon. 7.2V no current rating though.
Anyone have any experiences? Good, bad or, ugly?
Can't beat the price unless it causes problems to the body.

Before posting my message I searched the forum here and did not find the experiences noted at the link below. Since there seem to be many bp511 replacements available I figured others might be interested, too.

Hello.
I've been using both Canon and non-OEM batteries for years. The non-OEMs are higher capacity and have worked as well as, if not better than the Canons.
I bought mine from the Battery Barn. The service was great and the price was very good.
Since I purchased my batteries I've found them for less at:

but, I still like the folks at the Battery Barn (in Illinois). They were very helpful.
Higher capacity, much lower price, it's hard to beat the non-OEMs!

I use both genuine and non-genuine BP511's - the non genuine are from a Korean manufacturer, are 1300mah, and work like a dream - I pay about a little less than half of the price of a genuine battery for them, and the reason I used them in the first place was the number of users here in Australia who've all found them to be good... they're not the cheapest clones you can buy, but they are dependable - the quality of some of the ultra cheap knockoffs certainly would concern me - as would the possibility that they've been sitting somewhere for a long time and their life span has degraded significantly...
Cheers,
Stuart
