A video or cine camera is the best way to capture the beauty of wind blowing across a field of barley - but that didn't stop me trying with my camera! The day was dull and breezy, and I hadn't got my ND filters with me, so it was f22 and everything else necessary to get a slow shutter speed. Does it offer anything?

I'm not sure Tony. I tried the same thing with a field of canola flowers (oilseed rape) and still can't decide as it looks like something went wrong rather than capturing motion. It's just my opinion but I can't say it gives me any feelings of Wow, but it's a nice attempt.

I agree with Leonie. Maybe if the SS was slowed down quite so much. It's just blurry to me.

Thanks for the feedback Leonie & Monnie. I'm not entirely unhappy with the blurry quality of this shot, but I think it would have benefited from more of the stalks being sharp. Maybe it was just too windy, or I neeed a slightly faster shutter speed. A tree stump or something that couldn't be moved by the wind would have been ideal, but the fields around here are just so neat :-)

Good try Tony, I know exactly the image you were trying for, and it's a hard one to capture in a still photo. Don't give up though, go out and try some different settings and see what you come up with.
