View Full Version : Bumblebee Shots
I just took these shots. It took me quite a few tries to get anything worth having. Its hard to shoot flying bees at 1.5 feet away. lol

Any C&C is welcome.

I love the second shot Tim, but both are great. Awesome depth of field, as was mentioned focus.

Tim I have a question.
How do you get the DOF so shallow at f/10.0? my DOF isn't even that shallow at f/3.5

Very well done Tim, active bees are not easy to photograph. :-D

Distance to the subject will effect the dof as well as aperture setting. The closer the lens is to a subject the narrower the dof will be. If Tim had shot this from 10 feet away at f10 then his dof would be very broad, but since he was at 1.5 feet away, he shortened his distance therefore narrowing down the dof.
I love the first shot, good clarity and wonderful colors.

Fabulous shots Tim...they have a real wow factor.
Well done you!
Thanks everyone. I think these are my first good bee shots. I tried to get some shots of them in full flight, but it is really hard. :-)
I had to use a f/10 aperture because I was so close to the subject. It is challenging to get macro type shots without a true macro lens.
