Never tried sports pictures before so this was fun. The boat races were held on the river on the weekend so I decided that it was a nice day to play with the camera.

The second shot is better because you can see more of the rooster tail. I think that shows the speed and power behind these boats.

I'm no expert but they look soft. What shutter speed were you using?

I have to agree with Ken here, I like the second shot better and they look a little soft to me aswell.
These are stilll good shots and I hope to see more sports photos from you!

Number one...nice out of the water capture and number two... got that roosters tail just where you wanted it. Outstanding captures. Hey, with split second timing to get the shot and from the distance away, good job. Thanks for sharing these.

Thanks for the input! Im still trying to learn and this helps a lot. This may be a dumb question but soft means the image isnt sharp right? When I resized it to fit on the forum it seems to have taken some of the detail out. Thanks again

Camoman, soft does mean not sharp. When ever you change the size of an image, you should apply a small amount of sharpening to counter the loss of detail.
