woke up extra early this morning to try and get this before the breeze started. The light was nice, too. I've always liked these flowers. Figured I'd add to the flower madness lol

I like the way the red veins go up into the white petal. Even the pollen is distinct. This was probably a hard shot to do with all that white. Good job.

Very nice Steffie. Very sharp, crisp, and clear. Nice DOF too. I like the close crop.

You did well. Great definition in the white petals. The wind is most annoying isn't it. Every time I walk out with the camera, up it comes. lol

This is one flower I have never grown. Have to look into that.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I've always been fascinated with them. That center stamen? makes it a little more difficult to get a completely in focus shot. Even in this one the tip is blurred :/ Next time! hehe ^^

Jan, they grow on bushes that can get fairly large. The bush that had this one was about 5 feet tall. I've seen them taller, but I'm not sure they do that well here by the water. And yes the wind is very annoying like that. It seeems the same for me, I look out the window and nothing is stirring, go out and the wind picks up.

Cool flower, nice shot of it. The color looks like it's true to reality, good job

Oh, that surprised me! I expected a yellow flower (mine are that colour), but I like this one a lot.

This is a beautiful flower indeed! The composition is great and sharp. It almost looks like a satellite weapon, as the 5 leaves close in to the laser (pistol) and just powering up to fire. How is it that I managed to associate such a beautiful subject with weapons and death...?

Thanks Ron, Tony and Inspector. It is reminiscent of one of those science fiction lasers lol thanks for the association!

I, too, ,am a fan of Rose of Sharon and this is a great photograph. I have a white one, too.

Nice DOF and good exposure. I do many flower photos either early or late because the light is so much better than full daylight and you took advantage of the light in this photo.

Thank you both. Jan, I've seen a couple of different colors here. The dark pink and another lighter pink but very dark in the middle. There's also a giant variety in white and scarlet. They're really nice, but I can't figure out how to get a decent shot of them because they're huge.

Willard, early and late are definitely best. Couldn't agree more!
