My story of a lost photo op....or maybe.

I left home around 5:30am for work with the intention of stopping off at gym, walking for ¾ of an hour, a 15 minute steam and then work.

As I hit the highway going east to west the moon was just above the horizon and was looking spectacular, full with a dirty orange tinge and some wisps of grayish cloud floating around and in front of it. The sky on the east side was lightening up and becoming a nice morning blue but the west side was still a darkish, dirty grey blue. I had an approx 10 minute ride to the parking lot of the gym and my little mind was racing with thoughts how I will take these pictures. Thanks to the thread on “bad habits” I had just put my tripod in the trunk of my car (Thanks).
It was a declining long 10 minute ride towards the moon as I kept my eye on it, it started to wane. I scrambled around the parking lot to find the best vantage point , setup and managed only to get the following 2 (in my mind dismal) photos. No 3rd shot possible.
I left the photos as shot just converted from RAW to jpg. The camera has a preset higher saturation and lower contrast...just my preference.
Lens on at the time is Sigma DG 70mm-300mm 1:4 – 5.6.
F5.6
ISO 100

A couple of questions if I may and any C + C will be most appreciated.
Can anything be done, post editing, to accentuate the moon?
What typical settings should I have used or had in mind under these circumstances?

I thank you in advance.
Michael

I don't know if this will work in this case, but I've discovered by using lines and curves on the PP program I use, if I darken the blue spectrum, the whites, mostly clouds, tend to become more defined.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a try.

Cheers
