I went for a fishing trip in the mountains in Iceland.
The waters there are surrounded by beautiful landscapes and this is one of the many waters there.
I would appreciate some comments and criticism on these 2 pictures and which composition do like better.

I would like to see more of the lake. I feel the rock outcrop at the front of the photo is blocking my view of the lake. I would like to have seen you move to your left, turn toward the rocks in the foreground and shot it from that location. That way you'd get the opposite shore, more of the lake and the rock formation in the lower right of the photo. Hope this makes sense.

Thank you yellalablady for your criticism, I really appreciate it.
Anyone else wanna criticize these pictures?

Love the colors in these. The sky is to die for. But I agree with Monnie. The rocks are just too up front and center for me but maybe you couldn't go left.

Super colour and a worthy subject. I like the first better than the second because the foreground rocks are doing more work for the composition. I think I'd be tempted to lose a sliver off the right of the frame to take the rocks a bit more off centre. Then I'd make sure the water line was horizontal :-)

As I was reading Tony's remarks, I discovered that sliver of water on the right. Maybe just a tad higher vantage point would add some interest to the first picture. Give more hint to the size of lake. Just another thought.

First of all, the colors in these shots are spectacular!!! Crisp clean air and beautiful view.
I think the foreground really works against you in these, as it really adds little to the shot. I bet if you walked forward and stood on the top of those rocks, the view would be better (maybe?) Did you try it?
Your horizons are not level. Need CCW rotation, both of them.
I hope you show us more of this area.

Thank you all for your comments and criticism, I really appriciate it, I think all constructive comments from others make me improve in this hobby of mine.
I took these pictures in a little hurry because we were switching to a another water to fish in. I agree that I should have put my tripod a little higher to show the whole lake or even on top of the hill like Landis suggested. I can maybe go next summer and fish there again and try some other compositions :D
After some comments I got here I cropped and fixed the horizon on both of them. Are they any better?
