Same individual as Wayne's posts. Looks like for the third straight late summer (and hopefully into the fall) this ridiculously tame heron has made a local pond it's temporary home. He is morphing nicely into an adult bird, this time showing the long head plume, and gaining a bit more white on the head feathers.
1. Here is the windswept head plume curving nicely into a perfect arc.

2. Standard portrait, but here the sun briefly came out and gave the heron some warmer colours to it's plumage (also gave the eye an extra glow to it).

3. As it preened it sometimes assumed some funny poses. I like this one for the clear big wide-open eye :-)
