Here's a couple of pics (hope I can post all 3 in one shot!) of daughter Melanie on and around her marriage to Arthur Gallucci on August 16th this year in Montreal, Quebec. Totally different event from their municipal wedding in Brussels in January, but amazing none the less. 280 guests, and an awesomely beautiful church... the oldest in Montreal

Thanks for looking... nice to be back!!

Totally different look from what she had at the municipal wedding in Belgium... one little kid saw her on the welcome line at the reception and actually thought she was Cinderella. No one told her. Made her day!

A fleeting moment during the wedding. Was so glad I had the camera in hand!

This one I took minutes before the girls embarked on their infamous hen party. The smiles show pretty much where their collective head is at!

Lovely shots mate, all three. Your daughter is beautiful, and you've captured that well in all 3. I particularly like the third shot for the warm skin tones, her wonderful eyes, and how you've really captured their happiness.

Many thanks Brad. Cool you like the third one especially... I had a first look at the 400 shots I took during the event and didn't notice it till I went deeper. You're right, there's so much emotion there and I'm happy you picked up on that!

Thanks for the compliment Matthew! Any tips? If you`re going to be the main photographer, you need to make sure you get all the groups right and make sure you get a shot of everyone... if you miss someone you`ll pay bigtime after the event! If you`re not the main shooter, that`s when it gets fun as you`ll be able to concentrate on the candids and the real one-off`s. If i were you, assume this status until you get experienced. The worst thing that can happen is that you`ll get caught up in the job and photography will no longer be fun for you, so be careful. The upshot is when you do it right, shooting weddings can be the most rewarding work you`ll ever do. I wish you the very best of luck!!!

Hey leonie, thanks for commenting and for liking. She`s always looked natural in front of the camera, so for me it was always easy... the pictures just took themselves with her.

Looks like we`ve got the same gear. The combination of that big sensor along with the 100mm can get you some awesome macros and portraits. My latest toy is the 16-35 f2,8L II... I took 400 shots at the wedding and think I only had that lens off for 3 of them. Takes a bit of getting used to, but it opens up a whole new world once you get it down. You should try one if you haven`t already.

Hey Bill,

Three stunning shots of this wonderful event. My favourite is the first one, as Melanie looks so beautiful, happy and relaxed. A stunning daughter, a handsome groom and the most beautiful church surely make it easier!

As always, you've done a superb job. Congratulations.

:-D that lens is exactly the one on my wish list, but the 17-40mm f4 might be the one I settle for because of the expense, I'm not sure I'd use f2.8 very often as nice as it would be to have.

The 17-40 f4 is a good alternative, and yeah, even on the 16-35 the f2,8 setting is virtually useless as to get the wide angle effect you need good DOF. BUT, I don`t know if the 17-40 has the L glass which really rocks the 16-35... when you use that lens even in low light, the resolution and general quality is stunning. You should see if you can do a test with both. Again, with that big sensor on the 5D, you`ll want the best quality lens possible to benefit from it. Either way, you`ll have lots of fun with the wide angle!!

Hey Kathy! Cool of you to comment on this post too as the pics show up much better. Of course it`s always sad to say goodbye, especially as she`s now living so far away. But knowing she`s in good hands with a guy who understands family values makes me very happy, and that greatly compensates for the sadness.

Thanks again for the compliments, and for being around!
