Ok Craig it's a dramatic picture. Now tells the rest of the story. Why is there a stone throne sitting out in the open in the desert courtyard with weeds? lol

Howdy Skippy,

Thanks, It's from a place called the Holy City in Southern OK. It a very neat place where they hold various Religious pagents, including Easter Services.

Hi Craig I have been looking at alot of your IR work and I amazed at how good you are and this photo is no exeption. Now I no practally nothing about IR photography but I was just thinking wouldn't you have to have the shutter open for a long time in order to get enough infared light into the sensor. would I be right in thinking this or am I totally off track!

if you could answer it would be greatly appriciated.
thanks and great shot

Howdy Dillon,

Thanks very much for the reply and kind words, I just shoot a lot and get lucky sometimes<G>.

I am shooting with a modded D70S that's had the low pass filter removed and replaced with a 720N or close to it IR filter. So, the camera shoots just like a normal camera with the same speeds and fstops. You are correct if you use a normal camera and have a screw on or place and IR filter in front of the lens, then the exposure times are usually from 1-3 seconds. Don't be deterred by that amount of time I have seen a lot of stunning images with those types of shutter speeds.

All for now, Take care,

Craig

This is wonderful Craig. I love the composition, and the slight blue tinge to it.

Dillon, If you want an IR effect to your images, you can achieve it in PP. If you have CS3 it's easier, but achievable in all versions of Photoshop. It basically consists on converting to B&W, and boosting the greens and yellows. There is a great tutorial in the latest version of Photoshop User TV. You can watch it at http://www.photoshopusertv.com/

Thanks for your help craig,
I might give IR I go oneday because it looks very interesting but for now I think I will just focus on the basics and mabie try some IR conversions in PS. I only have photoshop elements 7 so I might have to try a conversion when I get a shot that I think would work with IR.

thanks for your reply and I can't wait to see more.
thankyou

Howdy Dillon,

Your more than welcome, there are some actions out there that can help create the IR look, I think Elements will let you do that?

Look forward to seeing more of your images, Take care,

Craig
