  1. Smiles Are Universal

No matter where I travel, one thing is for certain - a smile is universal. I may not be able to speak certain languages, or have the time to chat about the weather, but I have found that something as simple as a smile can convey a vast amount of information and meaning about a person, place or a situation.

Many of my coworkers thought that I may have been in the sun too long when I explained how much I loved Afghanistan. I do; I truly love Afghanistan. I may not like the politics ...

I saw many smiles in Afghanistan. I also saw many tears, and perhaps some were my own. Having the opportunity to go into the villages with various units, I saw first-hand how the Afghans like to interact with those ...

  4. Out of the Frying Pan...and into the Fridge

Since this is my first blog post, I thought I would catch a few people up on the happenings in my little world.

I finally got out of the desert known as Kuwait. What a relief. After spending 4 months on R&R, I decided to head up to the Arctic, to a little place called Greenland; North Greenland to be exact. And before you ask... Yeah! It's cold.

Due to weight and baggage restrictions (thanks Delta), I didn't bring any of my gear with me. But I'll be heading back ...
