Thread: Let's play RAW #26

    Default Let's play RAW #26

Well, Rob is busy and can't post an image, and I've not heard from Richard (winners from Play RAW #25), so I'm calling for a do-over with a different image.

    Here're the rules:

Everyone's invited to play. Download and edit the RAW image and post the results along with a detailed list of the steps you took to get your results. The RAW image is at http://www.loco-lobo.com/play_raw_26.CR2

We're only a day short of the two weeks we've been allowing for working on images, so I'll pick a winner on Sunday, 5 June.
    Have fun!

Thanks, Michael! Always interesting to see how different people see an image.
    Any one else?

Dunno if this is allowed, but this is what I did...

Selected flower head and stem (2nd from left)
    Copy onto new image.
Copy and paste / rotate 45deg (8 times)
Copy all and paste back over image - select and scale 70%, rotate 45 deg
    Repeat 5 times.
Set background to pink/white radial gradient (centred on image)
    High pass sharpen (2 pixel)
    Added 2 pixel black border.

ANY manipulation is allowed in these, at least as far as I'm concerned... I think this is the first time the question has come up in the Play RAW challenges, but heavy manipulation has been used more often than not, so knock yourself out!

    Nice one, Rob!

Sorry to be a bit late, folks. I had a show yesterday and was running late all evening. The migratory waterfowl refuge I shoot at a lot has a fund raising event where a bunch of artists set up along one of the trails through the refuge and show/demonstrate their art. People pay to walk the trail, giving the event its name the "Wild Arts Walk". Good fun and an opportunity to sell some stuff, help out the refuge and get some good exposure. Sold some prints, a bunch of postcards and likely made a contact to get into one of the local galleries. A goood day.
Thanks to all who looked and to Rob, Michael and Kathy for shoing us a bit of your vision. While I liked what both Rob and Michael did with the image, Kathy's editing was spectacular. Nice work!
    So, Kat, take it away!
    Cheers!

OMGosh! This is cool! I'll look for a crappy picture this afternoon (shouldn't be too difficult to find one! ) to use for Play-RAW 27.

I might need some guidance on size/uploading issue/or location of the image.

    Thanks L-L. Kat

Way to go Kat. Don't worry about the size. You need to find a place that will take the full raw file. Some of us use this one.

Thanks, Skippy. My brain is crashing at the moment, so I'll get one up there a little later.

Nice image Kat, it reminds me of those printed mirrors with a very posh metallic frame.
    Lovely colouring.
    Congrats!!

OK, Skippy - you need to do-the-guru thing for me.

Image is uploaded to newly registered wshared.com

File name is PlayRAW 27 7455.

I can't find the image, itself. Will you see what you can do? Thanks, k

Darn - this isn't bringing the image up, just the file info....

Btw, Michael... I just ordered PSE9 as a second editor, and am going to try some of those features you used. The texture on the petals is terrific.

and, Rob - I really thought you had used the Kaleidoscope Tool, but saw that you did a whole lot more than that! Your final blossom reminds me of a Blue Hydrangea. Just beautiful.

Kat it is working perfectly with the first link,
you hit the download button. The clock ticks off the 20 seconds and you hit the download button again and your browser should ask where to save or however you browser works. Is downloading the file of 7.3 megs as I write.

You may also want to start this in it's own thread with a small jpeg inserted, most do. Any more questions holler.

Thanks, Skippy - that "Download" was the missing-link of information. Sure is easy when you know how!
