nikon d3100 histogram

I have followed my manual to get the histogram displayed but its still not showing shooting menu>>display>>checkmarked rgb histogram and data>> then hit done but i still dont see it, any ideas?

Histogram ( Plain or RGB) is displayed only in Playback.

Playback menu > Detailed Photo Info > RGB Histogram > OK, Then Done > OK.

See P.45, 99 to 101 & 130 of the PDF manual in CD.

I select all three available options in detailed photo info so that I can cycle thro' them as necessary.
