I think that you did really well to get them as sharp as you did-obviously you have a good panning technique
I like the car shot the best and I feel sorry for the guy coming behind with all that mud being flung everywhere.I take it you were stood a fair distance away.

Taking pictures that please me and if you like them too its a bonus!
Great shots! I really like the one of the quad! but I agree, they are all great!
Thank you for your comments, I was using 1/60th shutter speed and panning, but had more none-keepers than I liked. Do not know if I would do the same next time. Again I thank you.

Well you've certainly nailed these. Good action, they're sharply in-focus where they need to be and the sense of motion is excellent.
You're right, of course. 1/60th is a low-percentage shot no matter how practiced you are. It's a trade-off between getting one or two "stunners" and a whole bunch of "good" shots at higher shutter speeds. If your brief is "go to the event and get a couple of stunning images for the magazine" then low shutter speed stuff works. You can fire off hundreds (thousands?) of frames and pick those that work. If your brief is "get me a good, saleable, shot of every competitor" then the ultra-low shutter speed approach doesn't work.
Thank you For your comments, was glad to hear 1/60 was a low percentage of keepers as Cadwell said, it puts a better idea into my head, will keep your comments in my mind for the next time, again thanks to everyone, this is a good site and glad I joined, information is freely given and you can't beat it, when there is a lot of good photographers out there willing to help.
