Fort Williams Park

[Ima Hack]

Climbed down onto the rocks in front of Fort Williams in Cape Elizabeth for this one.
Rumor is the fort is haunted, my hair stood up on the back of my neck a few times, I didn't feel like I was there alone.
Experimenting with a variable ND filter...

Even before I read the ghost part, this was a dark and moody shot. I can believe the part about the ghosts.

The light seems to be very nice in this one. I'd like to see it without the ND filter, too.

It seems a little too dark for me on my monitor. I think I would prefer a little more detail in the shadow areas but that is just a personal preference.

The composition is good.

Jim, I agree on it being dark, I'm looking at it now on monitor at work and it seems darker than my home monitor. I tried to brighten it a tad at home but it seemed to lose it's mysterious feel.

This my second attempt using a neutral density filter, so it's fun experimenting and learning.

I appreciate the honest critique.

Great composition, but the shadows need lightening just a tad. What ND filter were you using? That probably has something to do with the shadows being totally black. Maybe a higher exposure would help, especially if you're using a ND8 or higher. I have a 4 and an 8. Sometimes the 8 is just too much for my exposure choice. The mood is wonderful though. And Skippy could have at least bragged on how straight your horizon is. ~~Peg

I have a variable neutral density filter Peg. I don't remember where I had it set but i think is was cranked up for this shot.

I brightened it a tad and lowered the contrast smidgen or three... any better?

Paul, I think the second one is much better. All the nice detail in the rocks is present and the shot is still moody. That's a great place for photography. I'd never leave. ~~Peg
