22 years later - I'm a dad again

G'day clan! Here we go.

Born 11 weeks premature at just 1.47kg, here is our little Daniel at one, two and three weeks old, having a quick break off all the breathing tubes attached to his face. Sorry the first one was taken through thick perspex, so slightly fuzzy.

Still in intensive care, he's now nearly four weeks old and doing pretty well. He's on full feeds, putting on weight and has been off the breathing apparatus for over ten days now. A good lookin' little bloke to boot!

It's been nearly 22 years since I was a dad the first time and I can tell you that this time around, it is a totally different experience.
He's just passed his third week and moving up in the bays at ICU. He had a bit of a rough trot last Saturday and again earlier this week, but seems fine today. It's still a very delicate time yet, so he won't be home for a few weeks.

I can't wait to get him out bush with the wildlife and rugged country, but first things first I suppose.

It sounds as though you have quite a little fighter in Daniel. I really like the detailed insets and the adult hands(Mrs Baz?) help put his size into perspective. Are you allowed to pick him up for a cuddle?

Aww, Barry. Got a lump in my throat when I saw these. He's beautiful and sweet. Praying all goes well and he thrives. He'll be a little bushman before you know it...I can see him now with his camos, boots and gear chasing after Dad. ~~Peg

Daniel has had a really rough week this week with some prem. problems that while apparently common in prem. babies, doesn't make them any less scary and worrying. He's doing OK today and I got a cuddle with him for over an hour which I think did us both a lot of good.

Sorry about the rough week. He is looking better, losing his wrinkles and his color is so much better. It's so hard to believe he is that small. He is definitely gaining. Keeping you my thoughts and prayers.
