Cool set Michael. Love #5 with the selective focus on the drops. I am amazed with all the people shots you get. Anytime I raise my camera and point it at someone in Denver I feel like I might end up using it to defend myself.

Interesting bunch of people. Wonder what the lady in the window is being told. Love the water drops.

There is a certain feeling these all have in common, mishlove. Maybe it's in these lines from one of the poems from Whitman's Leaves of Grass.

    1. ELEMENTAL drifts!
O I wish I could impress others as you and the waves
    have just been impressing me.

    2. As I ebbed with an ebb of the ocean of life,
As I wended the shores I know,
As I walked where the sea-ripples wash you, Pau-
    manok,
Where they rustle up, hoarse and sibilant,
Where the fierce old mother endlessly cries for her
    castaways,
I, musing, late in the autumn day, gazing off south-
    ward,
Alone, held by the eternal self of me that threatens
to get the better of me, and stifle me,
Was seized by the spirit that trails in the lines
    underfoot,
In the rim, the sediment, that stands for all the water
and all the land of the globe.

But it is seldom that we hear the intent of the artist. May I ask you what it is you are saying in posting this particular series? Can you put it into words? Can you at least try?

If you can, I think that would be helpful to me in seeing it.

Michael, I like these. All of the subjects are communicating in some form or fashion. #5 seems rather incongruous among the others but perhaps it's communicating rain. ~~Peg

That's what I'm thinking, Sage, and why I think we need the artist to weigh in on what the whole series means. I think there is an underlying theme there, just not sure how he wants to articulate it.

My fav is number 4. The various transparencies augment the far away look on her face.

    Very nice.

All part of the same photos walk....photo walks in a city can be very broad ranged.....I am always looking about at my surroundings, quite intently.........The morning in the ravine was a multitude of a muddy paths and much wetness on the plant life….. water droplets on a the leaves enticed many and I one of them, maybe the luminance of the droplet……the drop, framed by an out of focus set of leaves…seemed a good way to present the drops……..the man on the bench reading his phone (does that not sound a little on the strange side…still) seemed to be in distress, maybe getting “bad” news…I wanted to capture that distress??????....the reading lady said to me TV has not won…and who would not want to photograph a beautiful woman reading in the park…just for no reason at all………the young man listening to his phone said summer to me……when winter passes…and you are out and about, you see the sign of warmer weather in how people dress….and I think his style, as presented it typical of a young man, early to mid 20’s….maybe a student…on the streets……….street fashion is very alluring, something to be explored.

I was with friends at the Waterfalls Tapas Bar and Grill – Indian cuisine restaurant in Kensington Market (Toronto)…..we sat on the patio facing south(ish), she, part of a foursome, to our left, behind the window, having dinner…so I believe, as it was that time of day……there was an inherent sense of elegance in her, her posture and how she presented herself in conversation, how she ate…..at first glance I knew I wanted to take a picture of her…..behind the window in an obscure and abstract way, with all the warts caught in reflection, hoping that that elegance be maintained.

2 of the 3 people I was with are fellow photogs……and it’s not uncommon to put your camera to your face and shoot, at anytime, our cameras where on the table ………I am on the lookout for more and more opportunities to shot in this same manner….reflections in windows or people behind them.
