    Default Moth or Butterfly....?

I realize moths generally have feathered antennae- but not all. This guys was pretty small. He is on a string bean plant leaf. Anyhow I say moth....fighter jet dual winged moth that is! ! Bob

Its abdomen looks moth-like. Is that its tongue??? If so, I didn't know moths had tongues that long. That tongue is as long as its whole body!! Wow.

I like the great focus and sharpness throughout this image, the colors, and the composition in terms of off-center rule-of-thirds position. And the veins in the leaves and the overlapping leaves really make nice lines in it.

Looks like a moth to me. I'm not too familiar with insects though. Neat colors and does have that fighter jet look to him. Is that his tongue???

Thanks John. Thanks Hunter. Yes I would say that is his proboscis- 2. (Life Sciences & Allied Applications / Zoology) the elongated mouthparts of certain insects, adapted for piercing or sucking food.

Excellent. I can't even capture a moth/butterfly this well, much less it's proboscis.

Nice catch, Bob. Does have that swept-wing jet look to it.

OK, Mr. smartypants. You call it a "proboscis', to me it's a damn tongue.
