Thread: S7000 Microdrive compatability

  1. Default S7000 Microdrive compatability

Can anybody advise me regarding combatability of 2GB microdrives for use in the S7000, eg the Hitachi make. I require the capacity mainly for making several video shots of up to 5 mins in duration. I have seen conflicting reports on the WEB and would be most grateful if anyone can advise from first hand experience.
    Thanks, Mike

can't speak for the 2gig , but i've used my 1gig one with no problems , but if you can get a compact flash instead , much less complicated.

Hi, i do know that certain microdrives do not have a fast enough transfer rate for video, however because of their low price they are attractive, IMHO choose the right media for the job, I believe you need at least 9Mbs sustained for video, I may be wrong and will stand corrected by anyone with more expertise in this area.

My suggestion is check out dpreview regarding media which can be found here:

Cheers for those replies. I eventually got some decent responses from fuji who advised that the thermal cut off does not work with 2GB drives. I spoke to 3 different individuals on the help desk that said it was not compatible. The various reviews on the WEB do not indicate any problem and that is dissapointing considering the depth they go in other areas.

I went for a 1GB flash in the end but since it rained almost continually on my holiday I didnt use all of that up anyway!

The photos and video I did get were fantastic and all taken on auto setting!
    Thanks, Mike
