I am bothered a little by the tops of the heads in the first one, other than that it is very nice.

I think he means he'd like to see either more or less of the tops of people's heads in the bottom of the photograph, but that just the tops are not quite right.

That was my very first thought seeing it as well.

If you'd tilted the camera down just a bit, you would have lost the very top lantern, but gained faces of the people in the avenue enjoying the celebration.
