Thread: buying online...

  1. Default buying online...

Is it a good idea? I'm looking into buying my first DSLR and I've been looking online, thinking that's where the best deals will be. I know I have to watch out for scams, and I've heard that buying online is generally not the best thing to do, but the camera I'm looking for (Canon Digital Rebel XTi) isn't made anymore and none of the stores seem to have it. Are there any online resources I should check out/stay away from? thanks for the help

There are some great sites to buy from on line. My favorite is B&H Video. Another one is Adorama. Just remember: If it sounds too good to be true, but is. Check out the stickies at the top of the camera and lens sections.

The trick to good photography is to learn where to point your camera and when to push the shutter. The EYE is more important than all the technical stuff.

The link landis provided is a great resource of info, the golden rule: Don't trust anyone until cash/product is in hand. that goes for all types of purchasing. Using private seller websites like craigslist were intended for meeting and exchanging hand to hand. Alot of scamming has found its way on there, but if your lucky and smart you can find great deals from good people.

We appreciate the recommendation for Adorama Camera - however, if you ever have a query or concern regarding an order from Adorama Camera - or AdoramaPix - please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

When it comes to purchasing on line safely, it is always well worth checking out the feedback at http://www.resellerratings.com/store before parting with your credit card details.

Unlike many review sites, feedback can't be left on resellerratings.com unless a genuine purchase has been made.
