Welcome to PHOTOZOS 3RD Annual Best of 2009 Competition!! This competition only requires you to go back through this last years captures and find your personal best in Still Life & Abstract!! We want to see the best of the best!!

This thread is specifically for the Best Still Life & Abstract Photos of 2009.

How to enter:
Please, embed your image to this thread. I will move all the images to the voting gallery prior to the beginning of voting.

Open Period:
Competition begins at midnight on January 1, 2010...all entries will need to be posted by January 31, 2010 6:59pm (CST).

Voting:
Voting begins February 1, 2010 8:00PM (CST), ending February 15, 2010 7:00PM (CST)

Expert Editing Apply - Overview

Expert Editing places minimal restrictions on your post-processing. A full range of editing tools are allowed for touch-up and enhancement as well as for image modification. Please remember, however, that this is a photography contest. You are encouraged to keep your entries photographic in nature, and voters are encouraged to rate entries accordingly. All disqualifications are determined by majority vote of the Challenge Moderators. If you have any questions, you should err on the side of caution or contact the Challenge Moderators before submitting your entry. Entries that violate the letter or spirit of these rules will be
disqualified.

Requirements for all categories

Your submission must be:

taken with a digital camera that records EXIF data.
**If you are having difficulties with uploading an image with the EXIF intact, we will allow you to send us your original file with the EXIF information intact for verification...and you may enter your edited version. Once we have received the original and have verified that the image was shot during the open period and does not violate any of the rules, we will make a notation on the entry information stating that "this image has been validated". As always, any image that does not have it's EXIF information and the owner has not provided the Mods with the original file with the EXIF info intact will need to be removed from the challenge.**

no larger than 200 KB.

at least 400 pixels, and no more than 800 pixels on each side.

composed only from photographs taken after midnight on January 1, 2009 and before midnight on December 31, 2009.

Taken and post-processed by you. Someone else may press the shutter button if you set up the shot and the camera settings.

No one else may post-process your entry for you. Exceptions must be approved by the Challenge Moderators in advance.

You should:

keep your entry photographic in nature. Though violating this guideline is not grounds for disqualification, voters are encouraged to rate entries accordingly.

You must:

Ensure that your camera date and time are correctly set to your home time zone before shooting any images used to produce your entry. If the date recorded in any original image file is not within the specified challenge dates, your entry will be disqualified - NO exceptions!

Retain your original, unedited file(s) (exactly as recorded by your camera), and provide it/them to the Challenge Moderators along with a list of your editing steps within 48 hours of any validation request. This notice with instructions will be sent to your listed email address. Files that have been saved or altered with any editing or transfer software are NOT
originals.

You may:

Use any feature of your camera while photographing your entry.

Combine multiple photographs to produce your entry. All additional photographs must be taken by you after the challenge is announced with a digital camera that records EXIF data.

Use images that do not meet the source or date requirements as textures in your entry if they function specifically as textures and not to circumvent other rules.

Apply a full range of editing tools to all or part of your entry.

Use layers, layer masks, and alternative layer modes.

Add a border to the outside edge of your entry.

Use RAW conversion software.

Include existing images or artwork as part of your composition as long as the entry does not appear to consist entirely of a pre-existing photograph in order to circumvent date or editing rules or fool the voters into thinking you actually captured the original photograph.

You may not:

Submit more than two entries per category for this competition.

Add graphics or clip art images to your entry or its border during editing.

Add text or any legible characters to your entry or its border during editing. This includes copyright statements.

In order to be eligible for a posted prize you must be an active member. A minimum of 100 posts will be required with at least 20 of those posts being in the month prior the the entered challenge. We reserve the right to delete any post meant to simply boost post count ie:
'Great shot or Nice pic.' You may still enter and win the Best Of 2009 Competition with less than required post count but the prize will not be awarded. In the case of an non-active member winning the challenge where a prize is offered, the prize will be carried over to the next runner up who is eligible of winning the prize. The prize must be claimed within one week after the close of voting by acknowledging the win in the winner's announcement thread (basic courtesy and respect for our sponsors).
