Default Help With Trip to Canada

I am going to Niagara Falls in under a week and i just read online I should register my camera lenses and laptop before leaving the US so there is no question when I return.
Has anyone else done this or had an issue? Any advice would be awesome right now. Should I register it or just pack it and not worry

The last time we visited - 2 years ago? We had 3 cameras, 2 cell phones, 2 laptops... who knows what else... not a problem.

Went thru there from Michigan to Canada, to Niagara Falls and back to USA with all my gear during the summer of 2008. No problems (although almost lost some wine we bought in the US back in Michigan cause did not have the receipt!).

Since I have a web site, I have scans of the receipts for all of my gear on the site. If I were to cross a border, I'd pack a CD of those images. It wouldn't be at all convenient to check a small additional bag of just receipts. Then what if that bag were lost in transit?

My gear doesn't look new for long, though, so customs would be pretty sure to presume it was mine.
