We had someone else here doing smoke pictures a while ago. These came out well. I really like the dark one.

Really like the white background one, love the colour. At first glance I thought it was a fractal flame render, how did you achieve this? Hopefully I don't sound like an idiot nowbut is it actually smoke or perhaps ink in water? I'd really like to give that a go!

What is a "fractal flame render"? Now hopefully I don't sound like the idiot
If you youtube (smoke photography Gavin Hoey) he has a pretty good video explaining how to do this, and yes it is really smoke. I will let you watch the video since he can explain way better than I can.
The ink in the water is a great idea though. I might just have to try that too.

# 1 is great... Reminds me of the Aries RAM... Nice to see that you are experimenting.

Haha I don't think they are dangerous, except perhaps to ones social life!Sorry should have explained what a fractal flame is, forgot not everyone is as nerdy as me!
A quick summary is it's a computer generated image based on formulas some of the results can look like smoke especially like your first image.
If anyone is still awakea fractal flame is a computer generated (recursive) algorithmic image. A fractal is a shape that can be split into parts which are basically a reduced copy of the original. A tree could be considered a fractal pattern or an ice crystal or broccoli. i.e. it is made up of smaller versions of itself.
