Thread: Show me some tongue!

    Default Show me some tongue!

Taken at 8:00 this morning with new D7000, flash with 1/250 shutter speed, 800 iso.
I could have used 1600 and doubled the speed, ridiculous resolution for the iso.
This is cropped to about 10% of original, still pretty clean.

    Another from this morning.
Hummingbirds are amazing birds, it is nice to see they have real wings!

These are unreal................so clear and sharp. Which hummer is that? You must be way down south Florida, all the ruby throats have left.

skippy, I live in Oregon and these are Anna's Hummers that live here year round.
I keep 3 feeders and have 3 residents in my yard.
They are easy to take early morning, almost before light when they sit on the bushes near the feeders.
Thus the flash, which works really well with them, it illuminates them and "freezes" them at speeds much lower than without one.
The downside to taking pics when they are sitting is the colors (intense red around the head and neck does not show until they are flying).
