And I too agree. The point of view truly emphasized the lines in this image creating an interesting flow and rhythm. The lighting in here is so fascinating. This image would also do well as a black and white image, however I don't think it needs it. The slight color adds warmth to the scene, making it very welcoming instead of creepy, yet the extreme contrast in this image is as powerful as a black and white one would be.

And it's kind of funny, but I thought it worth mentioning, where you say it was taken looking up from the basement of the Vanderbilt mansion, that got me thinking...
