Thread: Elements 3 vs Elements 4

  1. Default Elements 3 vs Elements 4

I use photoshop 7.0 at work but would like to have some software at home. CS2 is just way out of my budget so I am looking at Elements. I have found that I can buy a graphire tablet that comes with Elements 3 for just a few more dollars than buying Element 4 alone.

Is there that much difference between 3 & 4? What are the differences? It is going to be hard enough to be satisfied with Elements after using Photoshop but I guess beggars can't be choosing.

I know nothing about Elements but here is a link to a discount software site, I have ordered from before, that has Elements 4 + a small digital camera for $59 US.
That seems to be a reasonable price to me.

Elements 4 is second from the bottom on this page.

    Ohmigod Jim!!!!!!!!

Is this site legit? How can they sell this software so cheaply??? It almost sounds too good to be true! From your experience, is this software registerable (is that a word?). Is it pre-owned software? What's the catch?

I see Photoshop 5.0 for only $20!!!!!!!!!! What a godsend if this is for real. If so..........you have a big kiss coming your way!

    Thanks tons....

    Thanks for the welcome deepins,

The photographer I work for also says that there is not enough difference between 7.0 and CS2 to justify the upgrade.

The software is legit and useable. They are in legal fights with big publishers all the time and they have won several fights in the courts. The out seems to be (a friend told me) that the little note that pops up when you install the software saying you agree to their terms isn't valid on unopened software. Read the notes on each software (sometimes they have several versions) and find which come with books, which come with CD books (PDF file), and which are full and OEM versions.
That v5 PhotoShop may be PhotoShop LE which is not compareable to the latest versions. They are pretty open about what each version includes and I feel comfortable dealing with them so far.

PhotoShop 5.0 LE is a version that used to come when you bought a Scanner as a freebe in the package. It works, but certainly lacks too many necessary things. I think that Elements is probably a better bet for you. I've noticed that Elements comes with many of the new Digital Cameras, but I don't know what version it is and have never loaded it on my computer. I think you can probably get a legal version of PhotoShop 7.0 for a reasonable price.

The trick to good photography is to learn where to point your camera and when to push the shutter. The EYE is more important than all the technical stuff.

Depending on your morals, if you have kids, get the education version! I'm a student, so I bought it...the full creative suite for something in the 200s.
