    Default Towering over...

...Boston, Lincolnshire is the mainly fourteenth and fifteenth century church of St Botolph. It has the tallest parish church tower (some spires are taller) in England, at 272 feet. Locally the tower is known as "The Stump"! Its size means it creeps into many shots taken around the centre of the town (and beyond). Here I framed it with the cobbles, pub and shops of Church Street, and the summer sky above.

Beautiful shot. I can only imagine places like this. In our country, everything is too new (relatively speaking). I love old cities and buildings.

Nice shot, that's really cool there. Love the cobblestone. We have that in one old area of the city I work in, sure adds something nice to a scene.

Thanks Linda, Ron, James & Willard. This was a shot where patience paid off. I had to wait a while for a delivery van to move from the street, and just after it had gone along came the cyclist. James, I had to do quite a bit of work with this shot. I exposed for the sky, so the sunlit buildings were OK, but I had to bring detail out of the shadows. The converging verticals have been corrected too.

    Regards, Tony

This really a nice shot. It looks like a calm and peaceful place to shop.

And in the city I live in if the building is over 40 or 50 years old it's considered obsolete and they tear it down and replace it. We will never have many old buildings with character.
