Hi!
First of all, my apologies for that delay, I am currently in a trade show away from home.
Secondly, I would ^like to thank everyone here, this was a true experience and I was so honored to be amongst the top 5... let alone win!
Finally, to answer the question, this is our new baby boy, Simon, who arrived on April 5th 2004. I shot this picture less than 30 minutes after his birth. It's a double victory, since he was a bit premature, but he started breathing better after a few seconds. This can be so unnerving!
Mom, dad and sister (2 1/2 yrs old) are all doing well now, but with much less sleep that we would want
And I'll finish with a question: what's the process for the next challenge? Will someone contact me about this? I can't wait to take a more active part in the process.
Congratulations for everyone who entered #24, this was a very nice one.
Cheers and regards,
Mart

Mart that picture is Amazing, I love the light and this is just the kind of thing I hope to capture with my son who should be ariveing any day now..
can you give me some pointers on it? I love the color and the lighting.
how did you get that?
Right after the umbilical cord was cut, Simon was taken away from his mother for a short while. During this time, they did some tests (Apgar), they dressed him up, etc. While they did all this, he was placed under a special lamp that provides a lot of heat.
They didn't turn on this thing until he was born, so I didn't know he was gonna go there (this birth prceeded differently than for our daughter). But once I saw this incredible lighting, I pushed on that shutter like crazyThe colors were not altered after I shot the pic, this is all like it was when Simon was laying there.
I wish you the best for the birth to come. This is an amazing time, so enjoy it!
